Population(s): Acquired brain injury is damage to the brain which occurs after birth as a result of a traumatic or non-traumatic event. Causes include assaults, motor vehicle accident, falls, infections and anoxia. ABI is not related to a congenital disorder, developmental disabilities or progressive diseases such as Alzheimer's or Huntington's. • Require medical documentation of an acquired brain injury and be 18 years of age and older. Community Care Access Centre coordinators assess the needs of applicants.
